There has been a conga line of candidates who have been disendorsed or quit in recent days – and more to come I’d say – all due to comments they have made on social media.

Let’s look at the absolutely shit takes we have seen during the #QldVotes campaign, and, they keep coming post campaign too LOL! I’m a political junkie and happy to admit it. Unlike many political junkies, I’m not a rusted on supporter of any political party.

With all the screams of “chaos”, “Queensland Government could fall”, “When did Premier know”, etc . etc. What everyone, including the media seem to forget is that there are real people behind the headlines? Billy Gordon, the member for Cook, is a ‘person’, his ex partner, who the Qld [...]

A funny thing happened on the weekend, Queenslanders ignored historical convention, a shipload of advertising and the wishes of the Courier Mail to say, “Yeah, no... Don’t think so Campbell”.

None of the above are the real issue or should be in this particular election. In fact, in my opinion, regardless of whether it is a decade ago or a decade into the future with different issues being “OMG this election is a referendum on...” it isn’t.

A recurring theme has been, why are the LNP favoured to win the Qld Election when there has been so many broken promises, poor MP behaviour, some would say corrupt decisions and Queensland’s economy is worse than when they took Government? Or shorter: “How Stupid Are Queenslanders?”

The #ImWithStupid drama typifies how ludicrous #QldVotes is. The fact that a bloke basically having a bit of fun and taking the piss out of some uptight young LNP campaigners can result in 3 Police Cars and a Paddy Wagon rocking up with no less than 10 cops to arrest and drag and drag @Can_do_Campbell [...]

In Queensland both these groups have been fundamental politically, more so than usual. You are all thinking, “of course Unions & Big Business play major roles in the big two political parties” and you are right, though in Queensland in the last two years, this dynamic has been on steroids.
